INTERNSHIPS
A one-semester internship or work placement in business is a compulsory part of the IBMS study programme. The internship gives you the opportunity to be involved in and learn how business is done in real life. The aims of the internships are:
- to increase your practical business skils by enabling you to apply your theoretical knowledge in a realistic setting
- to familiarize you with the way in which an international company or institution functions
- to gain insight into the nature and level of the many professions that are available for business school graduates
- to develop your personality, team skills, flexibility, sense of responsibility and (intercultural) communication skills.
Most of the companies offer a modest salary and/or accommodation.
In order to ensure the quality of the work placement and to provide you with feedback concerning your skills and competencies, you will be closely monitored by an academic tutor. Your performance will be evaluated by the company supervisor and the tutor. Every student is required to write a full report on the work done.
The work placement accounts for a full semester workload of 30 ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer System).
The Limburg Business School has appointed a work placement officer, who will assist you in finding a suitable international work placement.
Further details on the work placement programme can be obtained from Peter Frambach, Work Placement Officer at the Limburg Business School in Sittard (e-mail: p.frambach@hszuyd.nl).
